1.Introduction
    1.1 What this program does?
The FlasK MPEG Encoder takes MPEG2 and MPEG1 program and video streams and encodes them into a valid MPEG1 stream trying to achieve the maximum possible quality and trying to minimize the conversion impact providing a straightfordward aproach to the MPEG2 to MPEG1 conversion.

1.2 How do you achieve High Quality Conversion? How does it work?
A common problem when converting one video format in another is that the source and destination frame sizes doesn't match. Then you have to resize the source into the destination size using somekind of video interpolation. In many cases this process is very rude and introduces a lot or artifacts and aliasing.
The FlasK MPEG plugs the MPEG2 decoder output right into its HQ internal resizing motor and outputs that to the MPEG1 encoder giving thus high quality conversions hard to achieve with other methods.
The MPEG2/MPEG1 decoder is based on the MSSG (Mpeg Software Simulation Group) work an thus is seamlessly embedded into Flask MPEG. As you sure know, the MPEG video standard is asimetrical, that is, while the decoder is perfectly defined by the standard the encoder process is left for people to implement. That makes possible fthat MPEG encoders improve over time.
One of such encoders that has achieved quite a buzz lately is the encoder by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.,Ltd. It offers an excellent quality with little blockiness for the usual MPEG1 bitrates.
FlasK MPEG uses the Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.,Ltd. encoding engine to encode the video streams using the Adobe Premiere Plugin released by Panasonic.

2.Installation instructions
In order to install FlasK MPEG encoder you must own a copy of the Panasonic MPEG1 Encoder Plug-In for Adobe Premiere5.x. You don't have to have Premiere to install the plugin and use it.

1.- Create a folder for the program and place the program inside that folder.
2.- Install the Panasonic plugin and write down the place where the plugin will lay in. The installation program will ask for it, and if you have Premiere installed it will point to the Premiere plugin directory, if not you have to tell the installer the folder you want to place the plugin.
3.- Once the installer is over, you have to copy the plugin into the FlasKMPEG.exe folder. The original name of the plugin should be something like "cm-mpeg-pwi2.0e.prm" although this may vary between versions.
4.-If you've successfully found and copied the plugin into FlasK MPEG folder you have to rename it to:
                FlasKMPEGpeasopeich.dll
If you don't do that the program wont work

5.-That's it, the program should run now without a problem

        *WARNING*
The original package of FlasK MPEG encoder doesn't include the Panasonic plugin because it is a commercial product. If you received a package with the plugin included you're not dealing with the original distribution.

3.-     FAQ
3.1 What are the difference between the various resizing filter types?
Basically they offer different types of quality and speed settings. I need your help to improve this section of the FAQ, so please, do some testing and send me back the results.

3.2 Hey Boy. This program is painfully slooow. Is it normal?
It is :-( This program is provided as grijjanderlware, that is, you don't pay for its use, so everything that is inside is also free. Although the MSSG decoder offers excellent quality it is terribly slow and this is the very first version of the program (0.02) so expect some speed improvements in the next versions.

3.3 It's nice. It seems that this apps can just do video. What happens with the audio?
Precisely, this program just process the video. You can handle the audio apart demuxing the orignal program stream and muxing it again with the ouput from the FlasK MPEG encoder. There are a lot muxers and demuxers out there.

3.4 This FAQ is quite pathethic, don't you think so?
It is. It will be improved in next versions.

4. Agreements
To Mr. Avery Lee , creator or VirtualDub for that incredible app, and for his help with the resizing stuff.
To DVD2MPG creator for his help with the premiere plugin stuff.
